Since the downturn of the mining boom in Western Australia, Access World Australia started diversification of their resources over other areas in Australia that didn’t feel the effects of the downturn as severely as Western Australia. Access World Australia moved up to Northern Queensland, which presented many opportunities for diversification. For example the management and logistics of Copper, Zinc, Lead, Silver and Gold concentrates. New opportunities for warehousing and outbound shipping arose in this area. We were ready to provide more clients with our tailor-made services!
Diversification through innovation
At Access World we continuously strive to innovate and improve our processes, as well as deepen our knowledge of handling our clients’ products by expanding our reach. We strive to innovate to help our clients create a competitive advantage. It was this innovation process in Australia that resulted in a big project in Northern Queensland. In an 8 to 10 week time frame 50,000 tons of product needed to be moved over a stretch of 700 kilometres. After performing comprehensive due diligence and keeping in mind the paramount safety of our employees and subcontractors, we split the passage into two parts. This was necessary because of the difficult terrain that needed to be crossed for transport.
We provided our client with B-doubles for the first part of the transport, after which the concentrates were discharged to a holding facility. The next step was running Triples road trains for the final 500 kilometres of the trip to Charters Towers. With our experienced personnel and best in-class service providers, we confidently provided our client with a tailor-made service for their needs.
